Systematic Theology II

Service Description

Systematic Theology II is a comprehensive study of the biblical doctrines of Christ (Christology) and Salvation (Soteriology). Building upon the foundational principles of theological study, this course examines the person, nature, offices, and redemptive work of Jesus Christ while exploring God's gracious plan of salvation from eternity past to eternity future. Students will engage Scripture as the supreme authority, interacting with historical Christian doctrine and theological reflection to develop a sound understanding of the identity and mission of Christ and the application of His saving work to believers. The Christology portion of the course explores the eternal preexistence of Christ, the Incarnation, the hypostatic union, the virgin birth, the sinless life of Christ, His earthly ministry, miracles, teachings, substitutionary atonement, bodily resurrection, ascension, present ministry as High Priest and Advocate, and His promised second coming. Special attention is given to the biblical evidence for both the full deity and full humanity of Jesus Christ, the significance of His prophetic, priestly, and kingly offices, and the centrality of His work in God's redemptive plan. The Soteriology portion examines the doctrine of salvation as revealed throughout Scripture. Students will study the grace of God, election, the gospel call, repentance, faith, regeneration, justification, adoption, sanctification, perseverance, assurance of salvation, glorification, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit in applying Christ's finished work to the believer. The course also considers the relationship between grace and faith, salvation and discipleship, good works as the fruit of genuine faith, and the believer's eternal security from various evangelical perspectives. By the completion of this course, students will possess a deeper understanding of the person and work of Jesus Christ, the nature and scope of God's saving grace, and the transforming power of the gospel. This study is designed not merely to increase theological knowledge but to cultivate greater worship, strengthen Christian conviction, enrich personal discipleship, and equip students for effective ministry, teaching, preaching, counseling, and faithful service within the body of Christ.
